Research
We conducted a competitive analysis with five applications that provided routing or accessibility services.

We also interviewed seven students with mobility disabilities to understand some of their current experiences navigating campus and utilizing existing accessibility resources. We interviewed two staff members working at UT’s Disability and Access office to learn more about the structure of accessibility projects’ funding and implementation on campus.
After conducting user interviews and analyzing features of the five applications that worked well or could have been improved, we finalized the features we wanted to include in our MVP.
Prototyping
We brainstormed several flows for how routing might look in the app.

Then, using the Longhorn Developers’ design system, we created several components and started building out several iterations of screens.

Usability Testing
Now that we have finished our initial high-fidelity prototypes, we are currently in the process of usability testing to receive feedback on four feature flows in our prototype:
Onboarding
2a. Routing
2b. Changing destination while routing
Reporting a Blockage
We plan on testing with at least ten participants by end of March 2026.
Coming Soon
Once we have completed usability testing and iterated our screens based on feedback received, this project page will be updated with the Mobilize UT app launch details and key performance indicators.
Come back soon!
